2c. Comments:
nonvegetated stockpile on west side of the site (across from [east of] Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse) drains into surface storm drains. Sediment controls around these drains have failed. Note that one drain is missing its drainage grate and poses a significant fall hazard into the storm drain. Suggest all site drainage controls be inspected.

3a. Is there enough stone, gravel, or stabilizing material to cover the entrance/exit?:
NO
3d. Comments:
Observed on entrance location at NW corner of the site. Locked chain prevented site access, but construction entrance did not appear to be adequate.
4f. Comments:
No perimeter silt fence observed, though only NW perimeter of the site was inspected. Site is unvegetated in many areas, including stockpiles observed on west side of the site.
5. Storm Drain and Inlet Protection | 6. Soil Stabilzation and Cover
5a. Are storm drains and inlets protected and in good repair?:
NO
5b. Are storm drains and inlets free from sediment?:
NO

Two surface inlets near the unstabilized/eroding stockpiles are in significant disrepair and allow sediment to enter stormdtains. Note that one inlet is missing its surface grate and poses a significant fall hazard to the public.

NO
6c. Are soil stockpiles properly seeded, covered with tarps, or surrounded by silt fence?:
NO

NO
6f. Comments:
Stockpiles are not vegetated or otherwise stabilized. Significant erosion/rills were observed.
7. Sediment Traps, Check Dams and Basins
7e. Comments:
The east side of the site was not accessable, but all site sediment/erosion controls should be formally inspected.

9c. Comments:
Unnamed Neusse tributary lies east of the site. current conditions should be formally inspected.

TOWF reply

This site has been inactive for over two years. I have tried to get a hold of the owner but they are not reachable and most likely bankrupt. Although the storm drain box without the frame and grate poses a potential danger, there is a hardware cloth inlet protection around it. This structure had not been built up to the required elevation. All stormdrains lead to a large dry detention basin in the rear of the lot. Also, this is private property and nothing has been accepted or approved by the Town. If you have any additional issues with this site you can contact me directly at hspring@wakeforestnc.gov

Thank you for your hard work and interest in helping with erosion control.
